Despite our poor economy, there are many
news articles in non-profit trade journals
about how donors will continue to make
charitable giving a priority. By looking at
previous recessions, we can project that
giving will remain steady so long as we
do not see wage deflation. Donations,
except for major gifts, come out of
income not savings, so even the stock
market crash could have little affect on
donations during the holiday season.
This remains a great time of year to
market to new donors and prepare for
fundraising campaigns for early 2009.

Pay It Forward
Dinner & Auction
The November 13, 2008 fundraising dinner for Bill Lewis was a tremendous success.
Bill Lewis, the consummate community volunteer, was injured on August 10, 2008 in a fall while trying to save his church some money on tree-trimming. He is now paralyzed from the chest down. In only eleven weeks, ProFundraisers directed a group of volunteers to raise more than $50,000 to help Bill with accessibility needs both within his home and with accessible transportation.
